I had great experiences at this place. Dr. Mariko Horie is super helpful and friendly. She can speak English, Japanese and Chinese, which is super helpful with communication. The schedule process is easy. Her portal is helpful with self service invoices to download for insurance reimbursement. I started almost two years ago with my shoulder pain. Dr. Mariko Horie is very helpful. She used Acupuncture and cupping to help me and it works great. My physical therapist also recommended using the Acupuncture to help relax the tense muscles. I recommend using the electronic needle. It sounds terrifying but definitely helps the results. She helps my shoulder pain as well as back pain, knee pain and jaw pain. I am happy with the results. This winter, I had very dry heels with cracks. I tried all kinds of moisturizers on them but it didn't work. She let me try 'zi cao cream' and they got healed the first day. It was amazing as an herbalist. My mother-in-law had back stiffness and pain during her stay and she cannot get out of bed easily. We went there and she is able to do regular day chros after two or three visits.

I feel very fortunate to have found Mariko Horie and the SB Herbalist & Acupuncture Clinic. I had pain from an unknown source and Mariko helped me to feel whole again. She is a wonderful listener with a gentle touch who truly cares about her patients. Mariko has treated other health concerns beyond my initial pain issues. Acupuncture has become part of my overall health maintenance now. I also appreciate the organized, well run office.

After not having much success in neck and lower back pain treated by Western Medicine, and wanting to avoid the next level of treatment offered, I decided to try Acupuncture and was very fortunate to have stumbled on Dr. Hories website and made an appointment for treatment. Dr. Horie has been treating my neck, shoulder and lower back pain since October 2023 and I am so delighted with the results. Any skepticism I had went away after the first treatment. At close to 70 I have been able to enjoy the ocean sports that are such an important part of my life. The other thing about Dr. Horie's practice is that you aren't walking into the typical clinical white walled offices with way too many people scurrying about to get us to fill out multiple forms etc. and just feels stressful in general. Her office is beautifully appointed with interesting wall hangings and other pieces that exude a very relaxed aura that makes me feel as if I'm in a place where my health and well being is the priority. I am also looking forward to tapping into her skills as an herbalist having used herbal formulas with much success to treat injuries when practicing martial arts.

Mariko is a gentle, conscientious doctor of herbal medicine and an acupuncturist. The environment she has created is impeccable and soothing and so is she. My time spent there is healing and relaxing. It is well worth your while to explore!

Not only did she help me figure out what had been going on with my digestion for many years, but she has such a healing and kind energy about her and the way she imparts her knowledge that you feel better just being there. I actually sleep so soundly when I get acupuncture it is crazy. I also love that she is so vested in your care, and really listens. One time I fell asleep so deeply that she came in when the time was over and saw how relaxed I was and asked if I needed more time, which I did. Really amazing how much better I feel. I am continuing to go, and while I really don't like the herbal tea, she is truly a healer that I will continue to go to for my first line of defense.

I had been interested in trying acupuncture for some time, but always had fear in the back of my mind of trying it. The not knowing if it hurt or if it worked kept me at bay. I finally got to looking and decided on Dr. Mariko. She has such a calming energy to her. I absolutely recommend her as an acupuncturist and herbalist. I’ve suffered with IBS, hormonal imbalance and a shoulder sport injury for 15 plus years. My first session my shoulder pain went away. I could not believe it! I feel so lucky to have found Dr Mariko Horie, who is both an acupuncturist and herbalist. I have been suffering from insomnia and anxiety for many years and have tried traditional medicine and medication in the past. I was very pleased to find an Herbalist in Santa Barbara to help me with relaxation and getting out of the fog I was in. Mariko formulated some tea and it was what I needed. I have been seeing Mariko and the team since November 2021, and they have helped me tremendously! Immediately my stress was gone after just one session. I also believe that the acupuncturist work helped me get pregnant super quickly. I also saw her weekly during my first trimester and she targeted morning sickness. I got no morning sickness at all from seeing her weekly! Additionally, I went in one day and explained that I was having sciatica pain and she targeted that area, and immediately the pain was gone! Mariko is an amazing acupuncturist. She is extremely thorough and always makes sure she has an understanding of exactly what my issues are. She has prescribed me herbs as well which have proven to be very effective along with acupuncture. I would recommend her to everyone!
